pizza + ice cream + baby = date night

these days, i'm lucky if i get to shower let alone dry my hair and put on makeup. since evie was born i've pulled this off only a few times. and only on the weekends when jeff is home and watching her. but it's wonderful, and something i look forward to each week. i never thought it'd feel so good to get dressed (in jeans that don't have a stretchy waistband!), wear lipgloss, and bat my freshly mascara-ed eyelashes. ahh.

(all you childless gals out there? don't take showering for granted!)

anywho, last weekend jeff and i braved the big city with the baby. we got ourselves and the diaper bag ready hours ahead of time, while evie was sleeping. when she woke up, i fed her, burped her, bundled her up and secured her in her car seat. the three of us were out of the house so fast you'd think it was on fire. see, evie needs to be fed every two and a half hours, so we're living in 2.5-hour increments. and i'm still not ready to whip out my boob and breastfeed in public, which means we race around town like crazy people while she sleeps. last weekend we made it all the way downtown for pizza and ice cream and back again before she woke up for her next meal!

here we are on our date, looking a bit sleepy, but showered and with blown-dried hair!

leave a little note!

  1. yay! I'm so glad that you're still able to get out and have fun!

  2. ahh how sweet! life sure is different when you have a baby but i love you two still have a date night! evie is a lucky girl to have parents who love each other very much

  3. haha i completely understand! my husband and i went out to dinner tonight with our friends for the first time since my almost 1 month old was born! it was so fun to get all dressed up again!
